Why is it important to schedule an appointment with my primary care provider (PCP) when I’m sick?
COVID-19 is one of many illnesses. Influenza and strep throat are examples of illness that have similar symptoms to COVID-19. It is important to schedule an appointment so an evaluation and appropriate testing is performed to determine the true cause for your illness. Treatment plans vary by diagnosis.
When would I use the respiratory services?
Respiratory services are designed to care for patients who are experiencing symptoms, such as:
- Fever
- Cough
- Chills
- Shortness of breath
- Body aches
- Headache
- Loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion
How do I get tested?
If your provider deems it necessary, testing can be completed during your appointment and before you leave our office.
Are respiratory patients amongst routine “well” patients?
Family Practice Associates has two primary office locations, one in Waterloo and one in Columbia. Only one location is used as the site for respiratory patients on a particular day. The other location is used as the site for routine patients. This allows our patients to safely receive care no matter if it is COVID or non-COVID related.
As an additional safety precaution, cleaning with clinical grade disinfectants is performed in exam rooms and waiting rooms routinely.
